International Conference on Multidisciplinary Approaches (iCMA) is a forum to bring together academics and industrial professionals engaged in multidisciplinary research & development to discuss innovative ideas and diverse topics in a multidisciplinary approach. This is an opportunity to share knowledge and experience with national and global development.
This time iCMA 2019, the sixth consecutive conference was successfully held at Hotel Golden Rose, Boralesgamuwa from 26th November to 27th November 2019. The theme of the iCMA 2019 was “Sustainability, Ethics & Governance through Multidisciplinary Research”. The conference was organized by the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) of University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Building on the success of previous conferences iCMA 2019 has become an extensive, spectacular event in the conference history for its high level and diversified scope in multidisciplinary approach. The conference began with opening remarks by guest of honours and continued with interactive panel discussions, presentations and briefings on research areas in different contexts. Hundreds of attendees, paper presenters, keynote speakers and students have benefited in many ways from this conference. More than 120 research papers were presented by authors from both local and international. iCMA 2019 made a remarkable platform to share knowledge and rich experience of applications in a broad variety of disciplines.
Faculty of Graduate Studies of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura is the official coordinating body for postgraduate academic and research activities. With its purview, FGS engineered iCMA conference as it is linked with 09 Board of Studies covering all academics and research areas of the University (Board of Studies in Humanities, Social Sciences, Management & Commerce, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, Engineering, Technology and Multidisciplinary).

The first day of the conference started with a welcoming and opening ceremony at Hotel Golden Rose, Boralesgamuwa. The conference inauguration was attended by Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunge (Vice-Chancellor of University of Sri Jayewardenepura), Dr. A. M. Mubarak, Chairman, National Science Foundation as the Guest of Honour, Prof. Tom Buchanan of Mount Royal University, Canada as the Keynote speaker and Senior Professor M. M. Pathmalal as the dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Chair of the 6th iCMA 2019.
The welcome speech was delivered by Senior Professor M. M. Pathmalal, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies. As the chairperson of iCMA, Senior Professor Pathmalal welcomed all distinguished invitees and elaborated specialty of this conference as its multidisciplinary approach. The theme of the conference which was “Sustainability, Ethics & Governance through Multidisciplinary Research” was highlighted. He gave a brief insight into the program schedule. Prof. Pathmalal gave his thanking to all the supportive hands and extended his thanking to the Media who presented in the conference linking the scientists and the general public together.
Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunge, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura addressed the gathering as the Chief Guest of the conference.

Keynote Speech was delivered by Prof. Tom Buchanan of Mount Royal University, Canada. The title was “Mutidisciplinary Approaches in a Specialized World: How active pursuit of difference produces positive social change”.
Prof. Neelika Malavige, Professor in Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medical Sciences & Director, Centre for Dengue Research, USJ. Title of the Plenary Talk was “Impactful Research”.

It has been received more than 165 abstracts of researches to the 6th iCMA 2019. 124 research abstracts were accepted to present at the conference after expertise reviewing process. It consists of 94 oral presentations and 29 poster presentations. All accepted research papers had been categorized into the following six themes and Technical Sessions were held under those themes.
