The Faculty of Graduate Studies is one of the 7 Faculties in the University of Sri Jayewardenepura which manages and coordinates all the postgraduate studies conducted in the University. It offers multitude of postgraduate programs ranging from certificate courses, diplomas, masters degrees and doctorates in the areas of management, medicine, sciences, social sciences and humanities, engineering, technology etc. Some of these are joint degrees with reputed international universities. It also offers continuous professional development courses.

The Faculty staged a University Industry Interactive Forum on 8th June 2018 in the Golden Rose Hotel, Boralesgamua with a view to have a closer collaboration and a productive dialogue with all relevant institutions and enterprises in both public and private sector to streamline all its postgraduate studies including taught courses and research to be better targeted to the requirements of the industry and society. It was also expected to include the personnel from the industry to design courses and collaborate in research and national development work.

The Forum was well attended by about 120 personnel from the mid and top management levels in both public and private sector who are the beneficiaries as well as resource personnel of the training and research conducted in the University. Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, the Vice Chancellor and Prof. Hemanthi Ranasinghe, the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies detailed the present status of the University. The invited speaker, the Cluster CEO of the Ceylon Biscuits Limited talked about how Universities and Industries could work in collaboration to produce goods and services to the society taking examples around the world. The Forum was very participatory and provided opportunity for the partiipants to discuss aong themselves the new areas of training, research and continuous professorial development which is required by them and how this can be effected through collaboration. This discussion as facilitated by Mr. Maxwell Ranasinghe, a veteran Trainer and Marketing Consultant. Mr. Chandrarathne Vithanage, the Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce chaired the Panel Discussion.

This goes in history as a landmark event where the knowledge producers and knowledge users got together to shape the products and services to their mutual benefit and the benefit of the society and world in the long term.
